16-JUN-2025 - Star Rating and Accessibility Statement Changes Now Live

Dear OverDrive API partner,

As a follow-up to our previous message, star ratings have now been removed from API responses, and content accessibility statements for EPUBs have been added to the Metadata API.

If a title has an accessibility statement, you’ll see an accessibilityStatement array in the Metadata response. This array may include several fields with information about the title’s accessibility features (such as alt text, navigation options, and different ways of reading). Note that many titles will not have values for every field.

As a reminder, accessibility statements must be displayed when available, and they’re only applicable to the EPUB format of a title. If users want to download this format, they’ll need to go through Libby or their library’s OverDrive website.
